Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a full-time role in the Operating Room on a 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. schedule.

The candidate will support sterile technique, instrument readiness, and patient safety during procedures. Responsibilities include assembling supplies, maintaining asepsis, assisting surgeons, and participating in Universal Protocol. Requirements include a high school diploma, accredited surgical tech program, NBSTSA/NCCT certification,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program preferred
• Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA required
• 1-2 years experience as a Scrub Tech in a Hospital Setting preferred
• BLS required

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis; performs surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedure.
• Assembles necessary supplies per patient and procedure.
• Sets up sterile instrument table and prepares supplies; assists in draping.
• Assists and anticipates needs of surgeon for instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Maintains correct count of sponges, needles, and instruments with circulating nurse.
• Maintains aseptic technique and reports contamination.
• Assists in handling and disposition of specimens.
• Inspects instruments and packaging for sterility and proper function.
• Receives and labels solutions and medications on sterile field; verifies with RN.
• Participates in Universal Protocol (Sign in, Time out, sign out).
• Participates in Fire Risk Assessment and safety measures.
• Communicates equipment malfunctions and ensures safe removal.
• Maintains organized sterile back table and pre-cleansing of instruments.
• Assists with OR cleanup and safety practices.
• Maintains professional relationships with team members.
• Maintains continuing education and professional ST certification as required.
• Contributes to high quality, safe patient outcomes with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
