Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV is seeking a hospital environmental services professional to maintain a clean and safe surgical environment. The role involves turnover of rooms in the operating suite and PACU areas, cleaning of equipment, and assisting with patient transfers as needed.

Responsibilities include adherence to AORN guidelines, inventory management for supplies, and participation in orientation and education activities with preceptors and clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Provide a clean, safe environment for patients and staff by cleaning surgical suites and PACU areas.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to take assignments within scope of practice and competence.
• Ability to follow established infection control and hazardous material procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for room turnover by performing duties per established AORN Recommended Practices: trash and linen removal, wiping down furniture, kick buckets, tables, etc., and floor cleaning.
• Maintains cleanliness of all equipment including anesthesia equipment per established AORN Recommended Practices.
• Cleans Pyxis supply cabinets per established AORN Recommended Practices and cleaning schedules.
• Transports case carts to and from Central Sterile Department.
• Assists in transporting and transferring patients as necessary.
• Restocks housekeeping supplies as necessary including toilet paper and paper towels.
• Performs duties with knowledge of infection and hazardous material control practices to maintain a safe environment.
• Participates in SSA orientee education with the preceptor, manager, CNS and Clinical Staff Educator.
• Assists with room turnover and end-of-day terminal disinfection of Operating Room Suites and Sterile Processing Department.
• Familiar with the rules of the sterile field; assists staff in gowning and gloving for procedures.
• Willingly accepts assignments within scope of practice, skill set and level of competence.
