Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a dedicated OR Environmental Services Technician to support the operating rooms by cleaning, preparing and sanitizing spaces between procedures. The role emphasizes infection control, safety, and timely turnover of the OR for subsequent cases.

You will follow established hospital guidelines, assist with equipment handling, and participate in terminal cleanings as directed to maintain a sterile environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 months experience cleaning operating rooms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains operating room cleaning practices and follows proper guidelines for cleaning and infection control.
• Responds to direction to clean ORs to ensure timely turnover of Operating/Procedures Rooms.
• Performs between-case cleaning to ensure sterile, clean, and safe ORs or Procedure Rooms.
• Cleans and sanitizes OR surfaces, including tables, equipment and floors per procedures.
• Washes and decontaminates equipment including tubes and canisters per instructions.
• Prepares and arranges the OR to meet protocol requirements.
• Performs terminal cleaning per department/hospital procedures.
• Collects and disposes of trash, soiled linen, and recyclables; replaces liners.
• Cleans and maintains OR facilities and equipment, including walls, windows and carts.
• Removes soiled linens and remakes beds as needed.
• Assists with moving equipment and SETups when required.
• Reports broken equipment and delays to management.
