Job summary

HCA Florida JFK Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room to influence patient care through collaborative relationships with managers and involvement in hospital councils and national nursing initiatives.

You will evaluate patients preoperatively, educate patients and families, and ensure proper preparation and site verification, while maintaining high standards of patient safety and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Florida RN license or Compact Licensure.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• Minimum of one year acute care Medical/Surgical/Cardiac RN experience.
• One or more years of OR RN experience preferred.
• Call required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Ensure patient preparation including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time out, debriefing, universal protocols).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor, and document changes during shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
