Job summary

HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, FL, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our operating room team. You’ll work with surgeons, surgical technologists and an interdisciplinary group to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care.

You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families, manage IV therapy and preoperative meds, participate in site verification, and help uphold universal protocols to protect patient safety and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Florida Registered Nurse license.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required within specified timeframes.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN is required; BSN preferred.
• Compact license accepted if active and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and perioperative care.
• Manage patient preparation including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Perform surgical site verification and participate in time-out and debriefing.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices.
• Be a collaborative member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team (providers, surgeons, techs).
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes comprehensively.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment and follow-up steps.
