Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking an RN Staff Nurse to provide professional nursing care for a group of patients within a designated time frame. Independent assessment, planning, and implementation of the patient care plan are required, along with supervision of related staff.

Responsibilities include patient education, accurate documentation, and coordination with the health care team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Michigan Registered Professional Nurse licensure required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider—required.
• ACLS and/or PALS certifications may be required depending on unit; ACLS within defined timelines.

Responsibilities

• ASSESSMENT—Assess patient condition and needs across physical, psychological, cognitive, social, rehabilitation, and discharge aspects.
• PLANNING—Develop a plan of care using nursing diagnoses and defined patient outcomes.
• IMPLEMENTATION—Carry out nursing plan and physician orders.
• PRIORITIZATION—Set care priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
• PROCEDURES—Perform nursing procedures and assist physicians as needed.
• EDUCATION—Educate patient and family according to cognitive level and outcomes.
• DOCUMENTATION—Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record.
• SAFETY & CONFIDENTIALITY—Protect patient safety and confidentiality at all times.
• PROFESSIONALISM—Maintain professional appearance, attendance, and flexibility in scheduling.
• STAFF COORDINATION—Coordinate with staff and delegate appropriately to ensure care delivery.
