Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months recent nursing experience in an acute-care perioperative environment.
• External candidates must hold a BSN; internal UC candidates require 2+ years UC service and ADN.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and infection-control practices.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to scrub and circulate in most surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to design, coordinate, and deliver patient care for operative procedures.
• May act as scrub or circulating nurse in procedures.
• Serve as a role model to nursing students and new nurses on the unit.
• Functions as Pt. Care Coordinator as requested.
