Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is opening a new dual-brand 350‑room AC Hotel & Element Hotel in Birmingham, AL. The Assistant General Manager will help lead the opening and daily operations, working closely with the General Manager to prepare the hotel for opening, support departments, and develop a high-performing team that delivers exceptional guest experiences.

You will recruit, train, and coach staff, monitor guest feedback and labor costs, and help establish operating procedures while ensuring brand

Qualifications

• Experience in a hotel leadership role, including opening or multi-brand environments.
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, guest service, staffing, and expense management.
• Hands-on, guest-focused leadership style with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Partner with General Manager to prepare for opening and lead day-to-day operations.
• Support department leaders and ensure smooth cross‑hotel coordination.
• Maintain high standards for guest service, cleanliness, safety, and brand compliance.
• Respond to guest concerns and resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing hotel staff.
• Coach employees and managers to reinforce a service-driven culture.
• Monitor labor costs, staffing, and operational results to identify improvements.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, payroll, scheduling, and expenses.
