Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is hiring an energetic Assistant General Manager to help launch and operate our new 350-room AC Hotel & Element Hotel in Birmingham, AL. You will partner with the General Manager to prepare for opening and lead day-to-day operations, supporting department leaders and driving a strong guest experience.

Working closely with the leadership team, you’ll build a capable hotel team, establish operating practices, monitor service quality, and ensure compliance with brand

Qualifications

• Previous hotel leadership experience; Assistant General Manager or department-head experience preferred.
• Experience with a hotel opening, full-service property, or multi-brand environment is a plus.
• Strong understanding of hotel operations, guest service, staffing, and expense management.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the General Manager to prepare for the hotel opening and lead day-to-day operations.
• Support department leaders and help ensure smooth coordination across hotel operations.
• Promote high standards for guest service, cleanliness, safety, and brand compliance.
• Respond to guest concerns and help resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and developing hotel team members.
• Coach employees and managers, reinforce expectations, and support a positive, service-focused culture.
• Monitor guest feedback, operational results, staffing, and labor costs; help identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, payroll, scheduling, and expense management.
• Help establish operating procedures and team practices for the new hotel.
• Support regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
• Help ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Serve as a leader on duty and provide operational support as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
