Job summary

1Password is seeking an Intermediate Developer for the Open Source Team. You’ll own features end-to-end—from planning through release and customer support—while strengthening our open source posture and IDE integrations.

You’ll work across AI-enhanced tooling, code reviews, testing, and documentation in a remote‑first environment across the US and Canada. Ideal candidates have independent feature delivery capability, a solid modern toolchain, and a passion for open source and developer tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience taking a reasonably scoped feature from plan to release with independence.
• Working knowledge of the technologies and tools needed to complete tasks independently.
• Solid experience with a modern development toolchain (Git, IDEs, terminal, debugging and testing, dependency management).
• Good written communication and documentation habits for public repositories.
• Interest in developer tooling, IDE and agent integrations, and open source community work.
• Interest in agent‑assisted development and building tools to make agent‑assisted development smoother and more secure.
• A security‑conscious mindset aligned with 1Password's principles.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and maintain a solid understanding of your development toolchain and use it to contribute new features, improvements, and bug fixes across the team's codebases.
• Participate in the complete lifecycle of a feature: planning, development, release oversight and customer support.
• Ensure code quality by developing testing strategies, writing unit and integration tests, and documenting work thoroughly.
• Review RFCs/RFDs and promote best practices in code reviews, providing thoughtful peer feedback.
• Empower customer support to better assist customers and address high-priority feedback.
• Be an active participant in team organization: refinement, prioritization, and group estimation.
