Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to assist the surgeon and provide direct and indirect patient care during operative procedures. This role requires setting up sterile fields, maintaining instruments, and coordinating with the surgical team for efficient case flow.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree or certificate in Surgical Technology and at least 1 year of related experience, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• BLS within 3 months (AHA)
• Associate’s degree or a certificate in Surgical Technology
• 1+ years of experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare for operative/invasive procedures with timely, accurate setup.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub before induction.
• Manage case flow to keep Mayo and back table organized.
• Anticipate needs and coordinate with surgeon to adjust equipment.
• Run Mayo independently and adapt technique to surgeon’s preference.
• Assist with case closing activities and turnover.
• Communicate needs clearly and collaboratively with circulating staff.
