Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care. You will assist the surgeon, prep sterile fields, and ensure equipment and sutures are ready for a range of procedures.

Expect to scrub, assist, and transition between cases with a focus on efficiency and patient safety. The role emphasizes collaboration with the surgical team, adaptability to surgeon preferences, and readiness to handle routine and complex cases.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 3 months (AHA).
• Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or a Certificate in Surgical Technology.
• 1+ years of experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures with timely accuracy.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub before induction; assist as needed.
• Set up cases so back table and mayo are organized; have items available.
• Use resources wisely and avoid unnecessary openings.
• Maintain smooth motions; set up time for various case types within range.
• Collaborate with surgeon and anticipate case needs; adapt as necessary.
• Able to run mayo independently and match surgeon technique and preferences.
• Prepare for sequencing (e.g., clamp, cut, tie) and ensure attention remains on the operative field.
• Perform case closing activities including dressing, transfer and turnover.
• Communicate and collaborate with others; prioritize needs and resolve issues constructively.
