Job summary

HireArt is assisting a client in Sunnyvale, CA to hire a Benefits Consultant for a part-time, 6-month contract onsite. You will own Open Enrollment from planning to post-enrollment validation, working with HR, payroll, finance, IT, and external partners.

The role requires Hands-on Workday Benefits experience, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to drive decisions with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in benefits administration, benefits operations, or benefits consulting.
• Hands-on experience executing Open Enrollment in Workday Benefits.
• Demonstrated experience leading Open Enrollment end-to-end as the project owner.
• Working knowledge of self-funded, level-funded, and fully insured benefit plans.
• Strong analytical skills with renewal and funding modeling in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Experience with benefits invoicing, reconciliation, and vendor management.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own the Open Enrollment plan, timeline, milestones, and cross-functional coordination across HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT, proactively driving decisions, escalating risks, and keeping the project on schedule.
• Partner with People Operations to evaluate renewal options across medical, dental, vision, and ancillary benefits, model cost impacts, and develop recommendations for leadership.
• Assess the feasibility of transitioning to a self-funded or level-funded model, including stop-loss considerations, cash flow impact, and risk modeling, and develop documentation to support future decision-making.
• Develop and execute the employee communication strategy for plan and carrier changes, including the communications calendar, employee-facing materials, and FAQs.
• Lead Workday Benefits Open Enrollment requirements, configuration coordination, and end-to-end testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT), through go-live and post-enrollment validation.
• Evaluate and improve benefits invoicing and reconciliation processes by documenting current workflows, identifying gaps, and implementing more accurate, auditable, and scalable processes.
