Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' San Francisco VA Healthcare System Call Center seeks an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) to support multiple clinics and determine Veterans' needs, contributing to first-contact resolution and Veteran-centered care.

This is not a remote position. The AMSA will collaborate with an interprofessional team to coordinate patient flow, verify information, and aid in scheduling and referrals within a busy ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizen.
• English language proficiency in speaking and writing.
• One year of experience at GS-5 level or equivalent for the AMSA role.
• Knowledge of MSA practices and patient support workflows.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and manage patient appointments and cancellations.
• Enter no-show information and monitor appointment requests.
• Coordinate transfers and determine appointment type by eligibility.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient access and flow.
• Verify demographics and insurance information at check-in.
