Job summary

DTN, a global data and technology company, seeks a Terminal Automation Specialist to join the Energy & Refined Fuels team onsite in Plano, TX. You’ll provide on-site technical product support, installation, diagnostics, and repair for Guardian3 customers.

You will deploy at remote facilities, configure systems, collaborate with senior technicians, resolve control network issues, train users, and provide after-hours phone support.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Oracle Database, including installation and general database management.
• Knowledge of SQL for managing relational databases.
• Experience in the petroleum industry, specifically in bulk terminal operations and transaction data management applications.
• Understanding of PLC and flow computer protocols.
• Capability to learn proprietary communication languages such as ModBusTCP, CCM2, FMC Smith, and Optomux.
• Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, serial communications, and machine automation.
• Recognition of the risks associated with the distribution of products in hazardous locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the deployment of the DTN Guardian3 terminal automation system at remote customer facilities located in hazardous environments. Travel to sites as needed and complete required training.
• Collaborate with senior technicians and customers to prepare for software deployment, evaluating current systems and configuring new ones.
• Address network issues by planning, testing, and troubleshooting control process networks with customers.
• Test and evaluate new system releases before site deployment according to manager's test cases.
• Assist with onsite and remote training for users at various levels of software proficiency.
• Provide direct customer phone support for automation software configuration and operation under supervision.
• Offer after-hours support to customers on a rotational basis.
• Troubleshoot, document and track software issues for immediate needs and periodic design feedback.
• Support installation and upgrade projects.
