Job summary

JM Test Systems is seeking an Electrical Safety Technician to test and certify high-voltage safety equipment in the lab and at customer sites. The role involves testing dielectric equipment, calibration of instruments, and ensuring compliance with ASTM/OSHA/NETA standards.

• Preferred: Experience in a calibration, test lab, ISO 17025 accredited lab, or industrial electrical setting, and familiarity with NETA, ASTM, or ANSI standards.

JobSummary — The Opportunity

Line workers and electricians trust their gloves, hotsticks, and voltage detectors with their lives. As an Electrical SafetyTechnician, you'll make sure that trust is well placed, testing and certifyingthe equipment that keeps people safe around high voltage.

In this role, you will work in both our Mount Braddock laband at customer sites across the region, with travel and overnight staysrequired, performing high-voltage dielectric testing, inspection, calibration,and certification of electrical safety equipment and test instruments. You'llwork with insulated rubber goods, hot sticks, grounding cables, and meters,making sure each item meets ASTM, OSHA, or NETA standards and manufacturerspecifications.

KeyResponsibilities & Outcomes

• Test andcertify safety equipment. Perform functional and high-voltage dielectrictesting on insulated gloves, sleeves, blankets, line hoses, hot sticks,grounding cables, and voltage detectors to confirm they meet safety standards.
• Keepinstruments accurate. Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot low- andmedium-voltage test instruments, including multimeters and clamp meters.
• Catchproblems before they reach the field. Identify non-conformances and flagfailed items for repair or decommissioning.
• Documenteverything. Maintain accurate testing and inspection records that meetcompany and accreditation requirements.
• Keep thelab ready. Safely operate test benches and voltage sources, support setup,teardown, and preventiv maintenance of test stations, and track inventory ofequipment, tools, and materials.
• Communicateclearly. Share test results and status with supervisors, teammates, andcustomers.
• Worksafely, always. Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE whenworking in high-voltage environments.

Schedule & Work Environment

This role splits time between the lab and the field:

• 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, withovertime and weekends as needed
• Lab (indoor) and field (outdoor) work, includingmobile labs and travel trailers
• Regional travel with overnight stays required(see Travel Incentives)
