Job summary

JM Test Systems, LLC. is seeking an Electrical Safety Technician to test and certify high-voltage safety equipment at our Mount Braddock lab and on customer sites region-wide.

You will perform dielectric testing, calibration, and inspection of gloves, hot sticks, cables, and meters while ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of handling physically active work in varied environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic understanding of electrical safety concepts and high-voltage work.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Job Summary — The Opportunity

Line workers and electricians trust their gloves, hot sticks, and voltage detectors with their lives. As an Electrical Safety Technician, you'll make sure that trust is well placed, testing and certifying the equipment that keeps people safe around high voltage.

In this role, you will work in both our Mount Braddock lab and at customer sites across the region, with travel and overnight stays required, performing high-voltage dielectric testing, inspection, calibration, and certification of electrical safety equipment and test instruments. You'll work with insulated rubber goods, hot sticks, grounding cables, and meters, making sure each item meets ASTM, OSHA, or NETA standards and manufacturer specifications.

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

• Test and certify safety equipment. Perform functional and high-voltage dielectric testing on insulated gloves, sleeves, blankets, line hoses, hot sticks, grounding cables, and voltage detectors to confirm they meet safety standards.
• Keep instruments accurate. Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot low- and medium-voltage test instruments, including multimeters and clamp meters.
• Catch problems before they reach the field. Identify non-conformances and flag failed items for repair or decommissioning.
• Document everything. Maintain accurate testing and inspection records that meet company and accreditation requirements.
• Keep the lab ready. Safely operate test benches and voltage sources, support setup, teardown, and preventive maintenance of test stations, and track inventory of equipment, tools, and materials.
• Communicate clearly. Share test results and status with supervisors, teammates, and customers.
• Work safely, always. Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE when working in high-voltage environments.

What You Bring

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required: Basic understanding of electrical safety concepts and equipment, and comfort working with high-voltage equipment under strict safety procedures.
• Required: Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
• Required: Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Required: Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment, both indoors and outdoors.
• Required: Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays.
• Preferred: Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
• Preferred: Experience in a calibration, test lab, ISO 17025 accredited lab, or industrial electrical setting, and familiarity with NETA, ASTM, or ANSI standards.

Schedule & Work Environment

• 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekends as needed
• Lab (indoor) and field (outdoor) work, including mobile labs and travel trailers
• Regional travel with overnight stays required (see Travel Incentives)
