Job summary

RTX seeks an early career Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department in Tucson, AZ. You will work on products through their lifecycle, from design trade studies to qualification testing and production support.

You will join 200+ engineers in various structural areas; expect a wide range of assignments from classical stress analyses to advanced computational methods and field test support worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience; or an advanced STEM degree as substitution.
• Experience in structural analysis with PATRAN/NASTRAN/ANSYS/ABAQUS or equivalent software.
• Working knowledge of mechanical principles to solve classical structural problems inside and outside software tools.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and independently.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required and clearance must be active and transferable.
• 5+ years of professional experience in stress/structural analysis (preferred).
• Experience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction and correlation.
• Experience with dynamic shock and vibration analysis.
• Experience with CAD tools like CREO; MATLAB experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all program phases.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware to customer requirements.
• Analyze test data to validate models and generate mechanical loads and environments.
• Collaborate with peers to address problems of moderate complexity under schedule constraints.
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring accuracy of work products.
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Generate archival technical reports and travel to test sites as needed.
