Job summary

RTX’s Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) group in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Mechanical Structural Engineer for onsite work across product lifecycles—from design trade studies to qualification testing and production support.

The role involves classical and modern analysis methods, collaboration with 200+ engineers, and opportunities to work with leading software tools; travel to test sites may be required. A STEM degree and relevant tool experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
• Experience in structural analysis with any of the following tools: PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent software
• Experience in mechanical principles to solve classical structural engineering problems both inside and outside of software tools
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all phases of programs
• Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to customer requirements
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models, and/or generate mechanical loads and environments
• Work with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraints
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work product
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers
• Generate detailed, archival technical reports
• Travel to test sites to support test or design discussion (depending on work assignment)
