Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions is hiring a Lead Hardware Engineer for an onsite role in Ashburn, VA. You will lead hardware development for DoD embedded systems, including VPX SBC/FPGA cards, HDI PCBs, and thermal management.

Responsibilities include architecting, leading design reviews, and mentoring engineers to deliver robust, manufacturable hardware on schedule. A strong background in high-speed analog/digital circuits is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
• Extensive experience in DoD embedded systems and hardware design (SBC/FPGA/switch/I/O).
• Strong background in high-reliability, mixed-signal, high-speed designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaboration with engineering, project management, test, and operations teams.
• Design and develop 3U and 6U VPX SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards for high-speed data processing.
• Develop custom form-factor systems with SBC/FPGA/switch/I/O, power, and thermal management (LFT).
• Translate customer requirements into system architectures and hardware designs.
• Evaluate feasibility and balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Provide technical leadership for hardware development, reviews, and decisions.
• Lead hardware testing, qualification, and troubleshooting to meet requirements.
• Promote engineering best practices to improve performance and time-to-market.
• Maintain technical procedures and engineering documentation.
• Mentor engineers and guide team development.
