Job summary

SES Space & Defense seeks a Satellite Operations Center Technician to monitor and control a global satellite network and provide Tier 1/2 support. The role involves shift work, including weekends and holidays, and requires strong problem-solving abilities along with experience in iDirect platforms and network monitoring tools.

You will work onsite at MacDill AFB, coordinating with a team to ensure reliable, secure, high-bandwidth connectivity and effective terminal operations for customers

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associates preferred.
• At least 5 years of SATCOM experience or equivalent.
• Experience with iDirect Hub solutions, TCP/IP and SATCOM/RF concepts.
• 1 year of NOC support duties.
• Security+ within 90 days of hire.
• Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
• Independent and team-oriented work ability.
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Desirable: IP routing, Linux/Unix, MS Office, ticketing tools, CCNA/CCDA/CCNP/CCDP.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor network/satellite space segment to provide Tier 1/2 support.
• Remotely troubleshoot VSAT systems via iDirect software.
• Resolve issues related to broadband IP via satellite; support deployments at customer sites.
• Monitor iDirect TDMA configurations and report anomalies to Team Lead.
• Prepare reports on network utilization and activity.
• Open and track trouble tickets via Remedy.
• Analyze end-user hardware/software problems and provide training.
• Monitor/test satellite network performance and provide statistics.
• Assist in network design and capacity planning.
• Isolate and correct faults using iMonitor, iBuilder, Solarwinds.
