Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a Telephone Triage Nurse to manage patient and caregiver calls, assess symptoms, and provide information and education. This is an onsite, full-time daytime role with hours typically 7am–5:30pm, Monday–Friday.

Requirements include an active RN license (Idaho or Oregon) and at least one year of nursing experience; Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, ambulatory experience a plus.

Qualifications

• RN license required in Idaho or Oregon before hire.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• One year of nursing experience required.
• Nursing experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses effective communication to acquire and disseminate information to patient, family, and interprofessional team.
• Works independently within an RN scope with physicians, APPs and other healthcare team members.
• Systematically collects and interprets data relating to health needs of patient, family or caregiver.
• Integrates evidenced-based care into telephone triage assessments.
• Selects and utilizes appropriate protocols to aid in care of the patient.
• Demonstrates clinical judgment and critical thinking to respond to patient requests.
• Identifies with the patient how to implement the plan of care.
• Provides patient education as an outcome of the call based on assessed need.
• Utilizes available technology to assist with accurate telephone triage.
• Accurately documents assessments, education and interventions.
• Delivers culturally sensitive nursing care considering individual patient differences.
• Ensures information is communicated in a culturally sensitive manner.
• Seeks experience to maintain skills in telephone nursing and professional practice.
• Identifies clinical problems related to patient care delivery and telephone nursing.
• Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Seeks opportunities to mentor telehealth RNs.
