Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer focused on automation within aerospace manufacturing. The role will lead robotics integration, PLC/HMI development, and safety systems across complex production lines.

Responsibilities include deploying robot programs, integrating with PLCs, and ensuring reliable operation in demanding environments. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Secret Clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial automation and controls engineering.
• Proficiency in industrial robotic programming and integration with demonstrated ability to independently develop and troubleshoot robot applications.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems.
• Experience with industrial robots from platforms such as FANUC, ABB, or similar.
• Understanding of PLCs, HMIs, networks, motion control, safety, sensors, and electrical systems.
• Experience taking automation projects from concept through deployment.
• U.S. citizenship or eligibility for a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for automation and develop controls solutions to improve manufacturing capability, quality, safety, throughput, and cost.
• Lead the controls portion of new automation projects from concept through deployment; develop PLC programs, HMI, motion-control, and safety systems.
• Program, integrate, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots for aerospace manufacturing applications.
• Integrate robots with PLCs, vision systems, servo/motion, safety devices, and other automation equipment.
• Develop machine sequences, interlocks, fault handling, diagnostics, and operator interfaces.
• Commission new automation equipment and provide technical support for existing systems.
