Job summary

Acclivity Healthcare is seeking a Financial Counselor to assist patient families with insurance benefits, payment options, and financial assistance navigation. This full-time, onsite role is in Phoenix, with a daytime schedule and comprehensive benefits.

You will assess eligibility to pay, explain coverage details, prepare cost estimates, and coordinate with the care team to ensure families understand liability and options, while maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical financial counseling experience required.
• Strong AHCCCS knowledge required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Explain relevant benefits and applicable out-of-pocket amounts using data from electronic tools and payer websites.
• Determine patients’ ability to pay and review existing balances.
• Develop a comprehensive plan to cover out-of-pocket costs.
• Assist with the resolution of billing inquiries by facilitating processes with customer service.
• Provide patient estimates prior to service to assist patients in determining costs and payment options.
• Provide accurate documentation for patient accounts detailing activities and interactions.
• Prepare complete financial assistance packets for management review.
• Track all financial assistance applications in the central repository.
• Collaborate with other departments, payers, and vendors on behalf of the patient.
• Maintain understanding of the Federal Marketplace, Medicare, AHCCCS and other payer rules.
• Provide feedback to management and assist with resolutions to improve customer service.
• Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as requested
