Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Calumet City Oncology clinic. This 100% onsite role supports the Oncology team and requires being based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The MA will perform a wide range of patient care and clerical duties under supervision. Responsibilities include patient flow management, assisting with procedures, vital signs, venipuncture, specimen handling, and EPIC documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program is required.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Phlebotomy training and, if required by practice, Phlebotomist license and experience.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in a medical office/facility.
• Experience with the oncology practice specialty is preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities including patient flow, exam prep, and assisting with procedures.
• Performs clerical tasks such as handling records, appointments, and insurance verification as needed.
• Maintains infection control and restocks exam/procedure rooms.
• Respects patient rights and responds to emergencies as directed.
• Performs clinical medical assisting tasks per state law, including vital signs, venipuncture, injections, lab prep, and patient education.
