Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mining Construction Safety Coordinator to monitor onsite construction activities for a large EPCM mining project. The role is full‑time onsite with travel flexibility across the United States, prioritizing Nevada, Utah, Alaska near mining sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or related field, or equivalent combination of specialized education, technical training, and progressive hands‑on industry experience.
• 10+ years of relevant hands‑on safety management experience in active mining settings, with preference for open pit and underground projects.
• MSHA certification is required; other certifications (CMSP, CSP, CSMC, CIH, OSHA 30) are preferred.
• Experience in large-scale heavy civil construction, mining infrastructure, and EPCM environments.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, planning, and risk assessment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving and decision‑making skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure contractor compliance with applicable safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits; implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Participate in investigation of incidents and near misses; document findings and recommend improvements.
• Support HSSE performance and site compliance with local, regional, and client regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and client/contractors to foster a strong safety culture.
