Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America is seeking an MEP Cost Engineer to join the Cost Management team on a fully onsite Seattle project. You will analyze design docs, review MEP costs, and prepare estimates for scope changes, reporting to the Cost Manager or Project Manager.

You will implement cost reporting, track expenditures, and coordinate with trade contractors while maintaining accurate cost data and project indicators. This role demands strong communication and detail-oriented analysis.

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years construction estimating experience is required.
• Experience with industrial or hi-tech semiconductor projects is preferred.
• LEED Accredited Professional or ability to become accredited within 18 months is preferred.
• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent field experience.
• Background in construction materials and methods.

Responsibilities

• Setup and maintain job cost reports including budgets, commitments, forecasts, and spends.
• Track costs by bid package, field order and change category defined by the client.
• Create and maintain project indicators with visual graphics.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to validate cost proposals.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of project cost reports.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to quantify materials.
• Prepare and manage cost authorization packages.
• Summarize material quantities in an orderly fashion.
