Job summary

Hoffman Construction Company in Portland, OR, seeks an MEP Cost Engineer to join the Cost Management team onsite. You will analyze design and construction documents to determine MEP needs, review cost proposals, and prepare estimates for scope changes, while coordinating with project managers, construction managers, and subcontractors.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in construction estimating, strong proficiency with MS Office and industry software, and a detail-oriented, collaborative approach

Qualifications

• < 140 chars>Two years construction estimating experience required.
• < 140 chars>Experience in industrial/hi-tech manufacturing projects preferred.
• < 140 chars>LEED Accredited Professional or ability to become within 18 months preferred.
• < 140 chars>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• < 140 chars>Education background in construction materials/methods.

Responsibilities

• Setup and maintain job cost reports including budgets, commitments, forecasts, yet to buys, contingencies, and spends.
• Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific category of change as defined by the client.
• Setup and maintain project indicators, including visual graphics.
• Work with subcontractors and equipment/material vendors to validate cost proposals.
• Monthly reconciliation of project cost reports.
• Interpret design/construction documents to quantify materials required.
• On screen take-off of material quantities.
• Prepare and manage cost authorization packages.
• Summarize quantities of materials in an orderly fashion.
