Job summary

Hoffman Construction is seeking a Cost Engineer to join the Cost Management team on-site in Seattle. The role analyzes project designs and construction documents to determine needs, reviews all cost proposals, and prepares cost estimates for scope changes.

The position reports to the Cost Manager or Project Manager and collaborates with Construction Managers and Superintendents. While not discipline-specific, expertise in CSA and MEP is highly desired.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of construction estimating experience required.
• Experience in industrial/hi-tech semiconductor projects preferred.
• LEED Accredited Professional, or ability to become within 18 months preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent field experience required.
• Background in materials and methods of construction.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain job cost reports, budgets, forecasts, contigencies, and spends.
• Track costs by bid package, field order, and change category.
• Maintain project indicators and visual graphics.
• Validate cost proposals with subcontractors and vendors.
• Monthly reconciliation of project cost reports.
• Interpret design/construction documents to quantify materials required.
• Prepare and manage cost authorization packages.
• Summarize material quantities in an orderly fashion.
