Job summary

SteerBridge is seeking a Construction Manager – Mechanical Engineer (CM-ME) to provide mechanical engineering and construction management support for VA medical facilities in Huntington, WV. The role requires leading owner’s representative activities, coordinating with VA staff, architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver projects with minimal disruption to patient care.

Qualifications

• Current professional licensure and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction.
• Ability to quickly understand and apply local, state, and federal jurisdictional requirements and project-specific requirements.
• Strong communication, language, and software skills, including the ability to use software to monitor, update, and produce required work products.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and applicable construction management, scheduling, technical, or document management software.
• Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and Veterans Affairs PIV badge.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Government's owner’s representative for mechanical engineering matters throughout all phases of assigned construction projects.
• Provide construction management and technical support during project planning, design review, procurement, construction, commissioning/acceptance, and closeout activities, as applicable to the discipline.
• Review plans, specifications, statements of work, submittals, RFIs, change requests, contractor proposals, schedules, and other project documentation for completeness, constructability, and compliance with contract requirements.
• Evaluate field conditions and project documentation related to mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, central plant and utility interfaces, controls, ventilation, hydronic and steam systems, equipment, testing, balancing, and commissioning; identify deficiencies, risks, conflicts, and potential impacts, and provide practical recommendations to support project delivery.
• Coordinate with VA staff, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical and administrative issues and maintain project progress.
