Job summary

FastTek Global is seeking a Pontiac, Michigan-based Mainframe Operator to serve as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical IT incidents. The role requires onsite presence, strong communication with IT staff, customers and vendors, and hands-on monitoring of infrastructure and mainframe performance.

Ideal candidates have extensive IBM Mainframe experience and proficiency with monitoring tools like WhatsUp Gold, Pingdom, and PRTG. Willingness to work varied shifts and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Functions as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical incidents/events relating to various IT technology.
• Excellent communication skills necessary to collaborate with IT staff, customers and vendors.
• Requires in-depth knowledge and experience with IBM Mainframe and monitoring tools (WhatsUp Gold, Pingdom, PRTG).

Responsibilities

• Functions as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical incidents/events.
• Create, elevate, triage and track incidents; communicate with IT staff, customers and vendors.
• Utilize monitoring systems tracking availability and status of infrastructure connectivity, assets and services.
• Monitor mainframe control consoles and system performance.
• May assist with review/validation of mainframe job control language.
• Onsite presence required; no work-from-home option.
• May be required to work holidays, days, afternoons and/or midnight shifts.
