Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team in Watertown, MA is seeking an on-site Inventory and Lab Services Specialist. You will oversee consumables, manage inventory movement, and support daily order entry and reporting while ensuring GMP-compliant documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2 years of relevant experience, proficiency in Word/Excel, and strong attention to detail. You will communicate with customers and facility leaders, coordinate shipments, and help maintain

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years in material handling, inventory replenishment, or customer service.
• GMP knowledge is a plus.
• Proficient in Word and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee consumables, chemicals, samples and materials.
• Maintain inventory records and process movement requests (on/off-site).
• Monitor slow-moving/obsolete stock; perform cycle counts and annual inventories.
• Generate inventory reports and customer metrics.
• Deliver inbound packages to desktops.
• Track expiration dates, lot numbers and quantities accurately.
• Maintain GMP-compliant documentation and login credentials.
• Serve as primary contact for inventory inquiries.
• Communicate with customers, purchasing directors, facility directors and plant managers.
• Support daily operations: order entry, reports, metrics, and cost-savings documentation.
• Manage backorders, expedite orders and coordinate direct factory shipments.
• Handle third-party support, quotes, document control and price discrepancy resolution.
• Coordinate outbound shipments including hazardous materials and ensure proper packaging/documentation.
• Update SOPs and maintain procedures.
• Operate SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory systems, ChemSW and client platforms.
