Job summary

The People Concern is seeking a Support Specialist for the Kensington Campus in Lancaster, CA. This 100% onsite role runs Saturday to Wednesday, 3pm–11:30pm, supporting clients and maintaining a safe, clean environment within interim housing.

You will handle frontline client needs, monitor the floor, document incidents, and collaborate with a team to provide compassionate, trauma‑informed, client‑centered care while upholding confidentiality and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to handle difficult situations.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.
• Professional demeanor regardless of circumstances.
• Ability to operate as part of a team.
• Familiarity with non-violent crisis intervention and HIPAA basics.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point-of-contact for client needs such as phone use, linens, water.
• Monitor and oversee floor areas to ensure guidelines and safety.
• Be visible on the floor and engage with clients.
• Conduct regular walk-throughs of the facility.
• Develop supporting environment aiding client stability.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA laws.
