Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking an on-site Resident Advocate for the Bernal Emergency Interim Housing (EIH) program in San Jose, CA. You will ensure participant safety, coordinate access to on-site services, and support housing plans for residents transitioning to permanent housing.

Qualifications

• AA degree (or equivalent of 2 years of higher education) or two years of field experience in social services
• Demonstrated sensitivity to needs of unhoused individuals
• Experience working with unhoused population

Responsibilities

• Care, safety and supervision of program participants and guests
• Enforce EIH guidelines and site rules
• Check guests in/out using HMIS
• Complete intake and VI-SPDAT assessments
• Develop and update individualized housing plans
• Lead onsite workshops on financial literacy, tenant rights, etc.
• Respond to crises with de-escalation and crisis intervention
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct
