Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate in Fargo, ND. This full-time, 100% onsite role involves guiding uninsured hospital patients through applying for medical and disability assistance, with bedside visits and in-person interactions.

You will screen patients, complete applications, document cases, and collaborate with hospital staff to ensure timely enrollment and follow-up. Strong communication and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Adaptability to changing processes, computer systems and government programs.
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients’ rooms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics in a fast-paced environment.
• Dress according to client dress code.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county medical or disability assistance.
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Handle inbound/outbound calls and track enrollment paperwork for Medicaid applicants.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone or as scheduled.
• Assist applicants with gathering reports or records and arrange transportation if needed.
• Conduct in-person community visits to gather documentation.
• Inform clients of approvals/denials promptly per protocols.
• Attend ongoing required training on government programs.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
