Job summary

Digital Realty seeks an Onsite Energy Generation Manager to lead end-to-end on-site generation projects across multiple AMER sites. The role oversees design, construction, commissioning, and handoff, coordinating with DE&C teams and external consultants.

The role requires 5+ years in energy generation project management, strong regulatory and EPC know-how, and the ability to travel up to 25%. A PMP credential is a plus, with a focus on delivering reliable, scalable energy solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the project management of energy generation, distributed energy resources, utility-scale power, or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, stakeholder engagement plans, risk registers, action-item logs, and budget tracking tools to support project execution and provide visibility into project milestones, risks, cost performance, and key decisions.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing complex generation programs, including natural gas-fired and fuel cell systems; exposure to nuclear or advanced energy technologies (a plus).
• Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Firm understanding of utility regulations, and modeling such as Power Systems Computer Aided Design (PSCAD).
• Strong understanding of EPC delivery models, OEM ecosystem, fuel supply considerations, and long-lead equipment procurement.
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage large capital programs.
• Expertise with permitting, environmental compliance, interconnection considerations, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent executive communication, program governance, and vendor management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy systems, construction management or related field.
• Ability to travel to site projects up to 25% of the time to oversee progress
• PMP certification, a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of on-site energy generation projects from design through commissioning and handoff.
• Manage external consultants, owner’s engineers, and owner’s representatives throughout the life of the project.
• Support technology selection, commercial structuring, vendor evaluation, and risk assessments for natural gas and alternative generation technologies.
• Provide feedback and lessons learned into program governance, standards, performance metrics, and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with internal design, engineering, and construction teams to execute power generation projects.
• Foster relationships with EPC providers and technical consultants.
• Negotiate major equipment, EPC, and long-lead agreements with energy and commercial teams.
• Coordinate with environmental, permitting, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with Operations for maintainability and asset performance.
• Provide executive-level reporting on progress, risks, financials, and strategic direction.
• Ensure the DLR design and reliability requirements are delivered.
• Promote Digital Realty’s core values and participate in internal reporting/steering meetings
