Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Director, Major Projects for NEW GENERATION (Construction Utility Projects) in Rockport, IN. This on-site leadership role will direct all management functions for a multi-billion dollar generation project, spanning safety, schedule, cost, and stakeholder coordination.

The position requires guiding EPC or third-party resources, building a capable project team, and delivering compliant performance under stringent regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in major construction/projects, with leadership responsibilities.
• PMP certification required.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project execution across all workstreams to deliver on time and within budget.
• Lead safety programs and Zero Harm initiatives across the project.
• Report project strategy, needs, and progress to executive leadership with clear solutions.
• Develop and guide contracting strategies; negotiate EPC and engineering agreements.
• Maintain program budget, risk registers, and stakeholder communications.
