Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) onsite in Columbus, Ohio, seeks experienced Project Engineer to lead generation projects through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. You will coordinate internal teams and external partners to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective utilities-scale assets.

Requirements include ABET-accredited engineering education, 4+ years of experience or 2 years with a Master's/PhD, and PE license encouraged. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering accredited by ABET or equivalent; 4+ years of related engineering experience.
• 2 years of related engineering experience with a Master’s or PhD in ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license encouraged and preferred.
• Engineering Technology degree options acceptable with PE licensing.
• Alternative ABET pathway: non-ABET Bachelors + Master’s/PhD from ABET program.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering activities among AEP, Developer, A/E, and OEMs for Generation capital projects.
• Schedule and lead Engineering meetings with project stakeholders.
• Provide regular engineering progress updates to the project team and stakeholders.
