Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Director, Major Projects for a 100% on-site role in Cresap, WV. You will lead multi-component generation initiatives with budgets over $1 billion, ensuring safety, schedule, cost, and regulatory compliance while guiding EPC and contractor resources as needed.

You will build and mentor a strong project leadership team, manage stakeholder relations, and drive execution across all workstreams to deliver on time and within approved investments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with strong project leadership experience.
• PMP certification and extensive construction/ generation project background.
• Valid state driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution including directing, guiding, and overseeing project management functions to successfully complete assigned project.
• Implement and oversee project safety program and achieve Zero Harm.
• Report on project strategy, regulatory and budget requirements to leadership with actionable solutions.
• Establish and negotiate project contracting strategy for EPC and engineering agreements.
• Drive integrated schedules and manage program budget and contingencies.
• Develop risk registers and lead change management across projects.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing project leadership team.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with utilities, regulators, and contractors.
