Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Project Engineer to lead complex multi-disciplinary generation projects across the full lifecycle, focusing on conceptual and detailed design, procurement, and construction support. This role coordinates internal teams, external consultants, OEMs and EPCs to deliver safe, cost-effective, utility-scale assets.

The position opens at Senior SG8 or Principal SG9 levels with ABET-accredited degrees and PE credentials; involves on-site work in the AEP footprint

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree required for senior/lead roles.
PE license encouraged or required depending on location and seniority.
4+ years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Bachelor's degree for Principal.
Willingness to travel 25% outside Ohio within the AEP footprint during construction.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering activities across internal teams and external partners for generation capital projects.
Schedule and lead engineering meetings with project stakeholders and provide progress updates.
Coordinate design efforts and support construction and project closeout activities.
