Job summary

Samson Rose in Southern California is seeking a Staff/Principal Automation & Controls Engineer to help develop and deploy advanced robotic manufacturing and automation systems.

This 100% onsite role covers PLC programming, industrial electrical systems, machine safety, automation architecture, factory data, and commissioning. You will lead architecture discussions, write PLC software with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text, mentor engineers, and set engineering standards for scalable automation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on industrial automation and controls in manufacturing.
• Strong experience with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming.
• Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems and machine safety.
• Experience developing and commissioning automated machinery or production cells.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or ownership of engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems for advanced manufacturing equipment.
• Develop automation software standards, frameworks, and processes.
• Take automation systems from concept through detailed design, implementation, integration, and commissioning.
• Develop controls for new manufacturing processes in an R&D environment.
• Provide technical direction and establish engineering standards and best practices.
