Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Desktop Field Technician to support workstation deployment and hardware replacement across multiple client locations. You will install, configure, and test equipment to ensure readiness for user access.

The role requires travel between sites in New Jersey, hands-on installation, and collaboration with IT teams. Strong attention to detail and solid communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; technical training equivalent to an associate’s degree.
• 2-4 years of desktop support or field IT experience.
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, replacing, and troubleshooting Windows workstations and peripherals.
• Experience with Windows Active Directory, including adding and removing workstations from a domain.
• Ability to work with tools, cables, and physical computer equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and neat, organized installations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, connect, and configure computers, monitors, docking stations, peripherals, and related equipment.
• Perform workstation hardware replacements and upgrades at multiple office locations.
• Route, secure, label, and organize cables and equipment.
• Ensure workstations connect to power and network and function properly.
• Add or remove workstations from the Windows Active Directory domain.
• Verify workstations report properly to SCCM and receive software/patches.
• Troubleshoot basic workstation hardware, peripherals, and connectivity.
• Assist with inventory, receive shipments, track equipment, and document serial numbers.
• Maintain records of installations and completed work in IT ticketing systems.
• Coordinate with IT teams and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow IT/safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with end users and site contacts during installations.
