Job summary

Leidos seeks a Desktop Field Technician in South Plainfield, NJ to support workstation hardware deployment across multiple office locations. You will install, configure, and replace computers, monitors, docking stations, and peripherals, while ensuring proper cable management and clean workspaces.

This role requires 2–4 years in desktop support, experience with Windows Active Directory, and travel between sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus technical training.
• 2-4 years of relevant desktop support/IT field experience.
• Hands-on experience with Windows workstations and peripherals.
• Experience with Windows Active Directory and joining/removing devices from a domain.
• Ability to work with physical equipment, cables, and tools.
• Strong attention to detail and professional installations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift and move equipment and travel between locations.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, connect, and configure computers and peripherals.
• Perform workstation hardware replacements and upgrades across sites.
• Manage cables and labeling for organized workstations.
• Ensure workstations connect to power and network correctly.
• Add/remove workstations from the Windows Active Directory domain.
• Verify devices report to SCCM and receive software/patches.
• Troubleshoot workstation hardware and connectivity issues.
• Assist with inventory and tracking of equipment and serial numbers.
• Maintain installation records in IT ticketing systems.
• Coordinate with IT teams and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Keep work areas clean and follow IT/safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with end users during installations.
