Job summary

Milestone Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Technician Level 1 in Dekalb, IL. You will support installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers and networking equipment in a busy data center environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of general work experience, and basic hardware knowledge. Shift is 8 am–5 pm Monday–Friday with weekend requirements; PPE is needed and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Personal vehicle onsite and valid driver's licence.
• Minimum 1 year of general work experience.
• Basic knowledge of or hands-on experience with computer hardware and repair.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software and tools.
• Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to multi-task and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and move at least 50 pounds.
• Capable of walking long distances throughout the day.
• Willingness to work in environments that may include hot aisles and indoor areas reaching 90+ degrees Fahrenheit during certain times of the year.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers, networking equipment, and cabling.
• Work with Data Center Leads to ensure reliability and performance.
• Gain understanding of the ticket management process and contribute to timely resolution.
• Pull and manage inventory according to established documented processes.
• Develop server repair skills, including replacing drives, RAM, and motherboards.
• Assist with moving and racking equipment for projects.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by management to support operational goals.
