Job summary

TEKsystems in Portland, OR is seeking a Data Center Deployment Technician for a contract, fully onsite role supporting large-scale data center projects. You will install copper and fiber cabling, rack equipment, test systems, and document deployments, working closely with project managers, engineers, and site leadership to meet aggressive timelines.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in data center operations, structured cabling, and low‑voltage installations, and holds a valid US driver's

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data center operations, structured cabling, or related fields.
• Experience with rack-and-stack deployments and cable management.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation best practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, route, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber optic cabling according to ANSI/TIA standards.
• Perform rack integration, equipment installation, device mounting, and cable management.
• Support data center deployments, telecom room buildouts, and MDF/IDF installations.
• Stage hardware, label assets, prepare sites, and execute deployment activities.
• Conduct inspections, testing, and certifications to validate installation quality.
• Troubleshoot issues while maintaining project timelines.
• Maintain documentation and deployment records.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, site leadership, and cross‑functional teams.
• Identify risks and escalate issues to ensure successful outcomes.
• Follow safety protocols, quality standards, and deployment best practices.
