Job summary

MSC Industrial Supply Co. seeks an Onsite Service Specialist to be stationed at a large strategic account in Huntley, IL. You will support procurement, order placement, and operate MSC ControlPoint Solutions to maximize value for the customer.

The role emphasizes excellent service, collaboration with the account team, and driving savings while maintaining MSC standards and growth opportunities. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or the equivalent experience is required.
• College degree preferred.
• 2+ years inbound/outbound telephone sales, outside sales, storeroom or inventory management, or customer service experience required.
• Industry experience preferred.
• Relevant Military experience a plus.
• Metalworking knowledge and experience is a plus but not always required.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to aid in order placement, quoting, sourcing, and logging cost savings statistics.
• Manage MSC ControlPoint Solutions (Vendor Managed Inventory, Vending, Storeroom programs) including ordering and stocking.
• Determine optimal sourcing strategy for key customer projects with cross-functional support.
• Participate in customer plant meetings and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
• Collaborate with the account team to maximize satisfaction and future projects.
• Resolve on-site product/service issues with sales-related solutions and supplier input.
• Provide MSC standards-based service to ensure retention and revenue.
• Communicate customer concerns to management for lasting resolution.
• Coordinate with vendors to locate sources, quotes, expediting orders, and training.
