Job summary

The City of Rock Hill is seeking a customer service professional to assist customers with utility accounts. This full-time temporary position begins as a 90-day assignment and may be extended based on department needs.

You will handle in-person, phone, email, or chat inquiries, process payments, set up payment arrangements, and maintain accurate account records while delivering courteous service in a fast-paced, open office setting.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year in customer service or collections.
• Cash handling experience preferred.
• Ability to type 40 words per minute with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist internal and external customers in person, by phone, email or internet chat regarding utility accounts.
• Take payments for bills or security deposits and issue receipts.
• Process payments and set up payment arrangements for high balances or special circumstances.
• Prepare and send service orders to utility departments for repairs, readings, etc.
• Provide information on account status and general inquiries to the public.
• Complete follow ups on customer service issues and escalations.
