Job summary

HITT Contracting is seeking candidates for its Commercial Construction Project Engineer within the HITT Futures Program in Houston. The role targets recent graduates, veterans, and motivated individuals aiming to advance to assistant project manager or superintendent after a year of structured, on-site training.

The program emphasizes mentorship, hands-on learning, and professional growth, with a focus on shadowing senior staff and delivering real project value from day one.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Military experience or an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business strongly preferred.
• Previous experience on commercial job sites strongly preferred.
• Ability to learn sector- and project-specific software systems (e.g., MS Office 365, ProCore, Adobe Suite, BlueBeam, JD Edwards).

Responsibilities

• Commit to being fully onsite for the 12-month training program.
• Shadow, learn, and gain hands-on experience with day-to-day project operations.
• Attend performance reviews every 4 months to track development.
• Assist Project Managers with budgeting and client management tasks.
• Set up and maintain jobsite records and documentation.
• Interpret basic coordination drawings and assist with material take-offs.
• Support safety program adherence and weekly safety meetings.
