Job summary

Talentify is seeking a Project Accountant to support full-cycle cost management on large construction projects. You’ll work onsite in Mesa, AZ, collaborating with cost managers and site teams to ensure compliant, transparent financial records from concept to completion.

The role emphasizes change-order administration, audit support, and data-driven reporting to internal and external stakeholders, with Procore/Smartsheet in daily use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of project accounting or finance experience in construction.
• 1–3 years in project management, cost management, or accounting within commercial construction.
• Understanding of construction accounting principles for large multi-building sites.
• Experience with change orders lifecycle; proficiency in Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Ability to read contracts and apply terms to change orders and claims.

Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle cost management for construction projects with strong cost controls.
• Facilitate subcontractor change management and ensure complete submissions.
• Process change orders accurately throughout their lifecycle.
• Perform audit and transactional finance support with internal controls.
• Resolve invoice and change order discrepancies with project teams and subs.
• Interpret contracts to advise on entitlements related to change orders and claims.
• Coordinate with client finance for accurate reporting and controls compliance.
• Prepare and present monthly cost reports and risk assessments.
• Contribute to stakeholder meetings with data-driven insights on project performance.
• Analyze local labor markets and tax impacts to inform cost strategy.
• Maintain project accounting records, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Align transactional activities with project forecasting and risk management.
• Utilize Procore and Smartsheet to manage financial data and processes.
