Job summary

American Electric Power offers an on-site designer internship in Tulsa, OK, focusing on CAD drafting to create and update 3D inventory parts, assemblies and drawings, as well as 2D AutoCAD Electrical drawings. This program builds a foundation for your engineering career through hands-on CAD experience.

Applicants must have completed at least one year toward an AAS in drafting/CAD or related engineering technology, be at least 18, and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher with a December 2027 or later

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year toward an AAS in drafting/CAD or related engineering technology
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Graduation date December 2027 or later; GPA 3.0 or higher

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches
• Support facility and equipment document creation, revision and maintenance
• Obtain information from verbal sources, sketches, catalogs and field notes
• Perform mathematical calculations as required
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, Vault)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Read vendor prints and drawings and apply information to work
• Demonstrate ethical behavior per AEP policies
• Assume other duties as assigned
